miranda
The right to remain silent
As anything I’ve said has been used as proof
Of whatever noise the crowd has spewed
My silence has been taken as a weakness
Or a sign of unknowing
Me eyes bled from the stories told
On the faces of loved ones that blinded me
All powerful is the status of my silence
Defamation of self
Misogynistic
Bigoted
Bastard
Know it all
Self righteous
Rude
The many sides of Mark I have yet to meet
In due time I’ll sit with him
Speak on his traumas that cause him to act
In such harmful ways
Hug the boy that hates his becoming of a man
loyalty
When our worlds collide and defile our lives
Where will your loyalty lie?
What is the picture of me
when my enemies focus
How can I end up re-broken
When the fixes are listed
As handouts looked over
In the end, I gift listens
Knowingly consuming a tune called promise
that was meant to be broken
Where will your loyalty lie
When depictions of me
Are opposite of what’s spoken
Disconnected (first stanza)
A connection of broken bonds,
broken language,
broken thoughts.
Meeting everyday in broken buildings,
where being broken is taught
to the broken youth.
Like a broken me
preaching broken prayers
of fixing to a broken you.
Open letter
What is my reason
Am I to be made an example
Or should I take these fruits of labor
And be nourished
Changed my appearance as if it really
Changes my purpose
Sometimes I wonder if it was worth it
To be born again in another land
With the same habits of splurging
Or am I to be of the belief
That in time the tragedy of my life
Will have a lifetime of prolific earnings
